Water Transfer from Rosedale-Rio Bravo Water Storage District

Description

Rosedale and the Coachella Valley Water District (CVWD) propose to revise the delivery schedule of the remaining 4,000 acre-feet (AF) of the 10,000 AF of water that has not been delivered from the Rosedale-Rio Bravo Water Storage District (Rosedale); the remaining 4,000 AF shall be delivered to CVWD by December 31, 2012. The remaining 4,000 AF will be delivered to Metropolitan Water District (MWD) via the California Aqueduct and exchanged with an equal amount of Colorado River water delivered to CVWD via MWD's existing Colorado River Aqueduct to CVWD's existing Whitewater Spreading Facility located north of the City of Palm Springs in the Coachella Valley. Rosedale and CVWD propose to amend the 2009 "Change in Point of Delivery and the Conveyance of Non-Project Water - SWPAO #07022" (2009 Point of Delivery Agreement) to include a revised schedule for delivery of the remaining 4,000 AF. The amendment to the 2009 Point of Delivery Agreement provides that the remaining 4,000 AF of water shall be delivered by Rosedale to Reach 12E of the California Aqueduct by December 31, 2012. Based on the amendment to the 2009 Point of Delivery Agreement that includes a revised delivery schedule for the remaining 4,000 AF of water, CVWD prepared an Addendum to the 2007 Negative Declaration pursuant to CEQA Guidelines. The amendment to the 2009 Point of Delivery Agreement results in only a minor change to the Rosedale water transfer project and will not have any new, significant, adverse environment impacts. No new construction is necessary for CVWD to receive the remaining 4,000 AF of water from Rosedale. No mitigation measures are required under CEQA.
