Middle Creek Vegetation Removal Project
Description
The California Department of Fish and Game is executing a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2008-0120-R2 pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project applicant, California Department of Water Resources. This project involves channel maintenance in the Middle Creek Channel from its confluence with Scott Creek north approximately 1.9 miles. Maintenance will consist of the selective removal of vegetation such as young willow, immature cottonwoods, and blackberry vines in the bottom of the channel to the toe roads of both levees. No trees over 4 inches DBH will be removed. Debris piles in the channel will also be removed. CDF crews will be utilized for this process. CDF crews will cut and drag vegetation up the bank in designated low line areas. Vegetation will be chipped and the chips placed on uplands areas. The stumps of the willows and/or cottonwood trees will be trees treated or sprayed with Rodeo or Aqua Master to prevent re-growth.
