Title
East Valley Water District's City Creek Crossing Sewerline Protection Project
Description
California Department of Fish and Game is executing a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement (SAA#6-2002-25) pursuant to Section 1601 of the Fish and Game Code to the project applicant, East Valley Water District. The applicant proposes to excavate an approximate 30-foot-wide by 12- to 15-foot-deep trench around the existing sewer pipeline that crosses beneath the creek. Once exposed, the pipe will be encased in a minimum of 4-foot-wide by 4-fot-deep concrete encasement in order to reinforce the clay pipe. To protect the pipe from potential scour of the channel, a rock concrete rip-rap cradle will be placed over the encasement; the cradle will be about 2 feet thick and extend outward and downward from the encasement at about a 1.5:1 slope to a minimum depth of about 12 feet below the channel flowline. Side slopes of the trench for the rip-rap cradle will be constructed at about 1:1 slope. This will result in about a 50-foot-wide by a minimum 12-foot-deep trench. To construct these facilities, a 20-foot-wide construction access road will be developed adjacent to the trench, as described in the submitted application. Installation of the pipe facilities will impact approximately 0.80 acre of streambed.
