- The project involves the construction of a third of a mile long, 22-foot wide, 8-foot deep buried dike that would be covered over by 2 feet of soil. The dike would create a defined riparian buffer of 150 to 250 feet from the current channel for the Tres Pinos Creek. Construction will involve digging a trench 8 feet deep and 10 feet wide at the base. The trench would be filled with clean riprap with a minimum of 2-foot soil cover and there would be approximately 4,000 cubic yards of fill involved in the construction the berm. Following construction, plantings of willows and other native vegetation would occur on the west face and approximately 130,000 cubic yards of agricultural fill would be placed on the east side of the berm over a period of 10 years. Construction is proposed to be phase over 2 to 4 years.
