New Elementary School Site No. 4 - ASCEND Expansion Project (Formerly Dewey Alternative School)

Description

The proposed project would implement Phase II of the Oakland Unified School District's plan to expand the capacity of the ASCEND School to accommodate 380 students. (Phase I of this project was determined by the School District to be exempt from CEQA.) The project would expand the existing 0.73-acre site to 2.6 acres by closing a segment of 38th Avenue; and demolishing all existing structures. The project would include demolition of the existing school building, and construction of a new two-story 52,200 square foot building. The project would add a large play area and off-street parking for 97 vehicles.
