Document Description
In 2019, the Yolo County RCD (YCRCD) completed a carbon farm plan for 760-acre property owned by the City of Davis. The YCRCD will implement a portion of the carbon farm plan by installing over 2000 feet of hedgerows on the site which will add habitat for songbirds, beneficial insects and other pollinator species. Activities will include weed control, watering, and installing plants on cultivated land adjacent to farm fields. Activities will be carried out with hand tools and the total acreage affected will not exceed 5 acres. Other project components include outdoor education; the planting will be done by high school students from a disadvantaged community. The project is strongly supported by the City of Davis Open Space Commission.
