SNC Cat. 2 planning grant, prior to separate federal grant application for a joint/inter-agency fuels reduction project adjacent to the WUI Community of Greene Acres (Bassetts). Grant is for planning and NEPA/CEQA studies only. Future project under separate (federal) grant includes treatment of between 200-1000 ac. on USFS lands in the Tahoe National Forest to improve forest health, increase forest resiliency, and reduce risk of catastrophic wildfire to neighboring community.

Grant funding for planning and environmental studies only, prior to subsequent (federal) grant needed to actually carry out the project-which will entail minor alterations to land and vegetation merely for forest treatment/fuels reduction adjacent to a community in the Wildland Urban Interface; and for increasing forest resiliency and the protection of water, timber, habitat, and other natural resources. Future project involves thinning, or fuel reduction, or related activities undertaken, in whole or in part, on federal lands to reduce the risk of high-severity wildfire that has been reviewed under the federal National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (42 U.S.C. Sec. 4321 et seq.), and satisfies the requirement that the primary role of both the state and local agency is providing funding or staffing for this project.
