Document Description
The project proposes Improvements to provide new San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) electrical service to the project site, located at Chollas Lake Park. The new electrical service will consist of a new SDG&E transformer, meter, and panel. The new panel shall feed the existing panels at the existing ranger station, recreation center, and comfort station. New site lighting shall be added to developed areas in the project site and will be fed from the new panel. The project is within and adjacent to the Multi-Habitat Planning Area (MHPA). The project site is located at 6350 College Grove Drive in the RS-1-7 and OP- 1-1 Zones (Residential-Single Family and Open Space-Park), Brush Management area, in the Mid-City: Eastern Area in Council District 4.

Reasons for Exemption
Reasons why project is exempt: The City of San Diego determined that the proposed electrical service would qualify to be categorically exempt from CEQA pursuant to Section 15303, New Construction or Conversion of Small Structures, of the State CEQA Guidelines. Section 15303 authorizes electrical, gas, and other utility extensions, including street improvements, of reasonable length to serve such construction. The exception also applies to project lighting, which consists of accessory (appurtenant) structures to existing park facilities. Additionally, the exceptions listed in Section 15300.2 would not apply.
