Document Description
The Housing Element update presents a comprehensive set of housing policies and actions for the years 2023-2031 and will encompass the entire city of Belmont. The update is based on the City's RHNA estimated, which determined that the city needs plan for approximately 1,700 residential units, plus a number of buffer units to ensure ongoing compliance with the Not Net Loss provisions of State housing law. The City expects to exceed growth forecasts in its 2017 General Plan and Belmont Village Specific Plan by 2022. Efforts will be targeted along the entire El Camino Real corridor, and a new corridor planning effort focused on Old County Road. The City is preparing a program EIR to analyze the potential environmental impacts of the Housing Element update.
