The proposed project would include the construction and operation of iron and manganese water treatment equipment on the existing El Rio Water Treatment Facility site (Class 1 and Class 2 exemptions are applicable). The lab equipment/electrical/air scour blower building footprint would be relatively small (900 square feet) and a Class 3 exemption is applicable. Additionally, the project prevents, minimizes, stabilizes and mitigates or eliminates the release or threat of hazardous waste or hazardous substances in drinking water supplies and a Class 30 exemption is applicable.
