- Document Description
- Caltrain operates on two tracks over the Guadalupe River in San José. The northbound track is on a wooden trestle bridge constructed in 1935 and the southbound track is on a concrete bridge constructed in 1990. To address safety issues and protect the bridges, the 187-foot northbound bridge will be replaced with a new, 265-foot concrete bridge; the southbound bridge extended by 90 feet, and the channel widened by approx. 75 feet to create a connection to the existing Santa Clara Valley Water District’s Reach 6 Bypass channel which exists downstream of the project. Construction of the project is estimated to take approximately two years and is expected to begin in 2022.
