Document Description
The proposed Point Molate Beach Shoreline Restoration project would restore actively eroding portions of the shoreline at Point Molate Beach Park. Continual coastal wave and tidal action are causing a loss of park area and severe undercutting is present near a broken culvert. This coastal erosion has undercut the shoreline and the planned alignment for the San Francisco Bay Trail. Preliminary design alternatives included placing a rock revetment or constructing a piled retaining wall with riprap protection. The proposed beach restoration consists of an approximately 300-foot-long rock revetment situated at the north end of Beach Park. As part of the project, an 80-foot-long foundational section of the Bay Trail would be constructed where it coincides with the Beach Park slope stabilization, and the existing 12 inch culvert would be replaced with a new 15-reiforced concrete culvert connecting from an existing drainage inlet just north of the bluff to the face of the new rock revetment.
