Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement ([EPIMS-SBA-25470-R5]), pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 1602, to the project Applicant, City of Santa Barbara-Creeks Division represented by George Johnson. Permittee proposes to conduct a restoration project at the Andree Clark Bird Refuge to improve the overall conditions, habitat value, and water quality. The restoration project will include restoring vegetation and slopes along sections of the bird refuge’s perimeter and islands, restoring portions of the lagoon and dunes along the area south of U.S. Highway 101 (beach lagoon) to the Pacific Ocean, removing and replacing the weir dam and weir gate structure at East Cabrillo Boulevard, and constructing a low flow water treatment wetland at the Municipal Tennis Courts north of the bird refuge. An additional component, periodic breach priming to allow the mouth to naturally breach during high flows or tides will take place but is not considered under this Lake and Streambed Agreement due to its location on the beach at the ocean.
