- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes a highway maintenance project to overlay asphalt. The scope of work includes cold planing the existing roadway; digging out failed pavement; conforming new asphalt to existing public roads, railings, and bridge; placement of shoulder backing to replenish shoulder backing; potentially replace existing AC dike; grind out existing pavement markings and striping. All work will occur within the existing Caltrans right-of-way on existing paved surfaces or improved shoulders. The purpose of the project is to repair areas of failing or damaged pavement. The project is needed prevent further.
