Document Description
This consists of 80 pedestrian crossings along the on-ramps and off-ramps of State Routes 4, 13, 24, 80, 160, 580, 680, and 880, within Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. The list of all 80 locations is attached. This project proposes to install Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB) at ramp termini with uncontrolled pedestrian crossings. Electrical conduits and wiring would be installed to power the RRFBs. Conduits shall be installed by the directional boring method instead of the trenching method to avoid disturbance across ramps, sidewalks, and pedestrians facilities. Warning signs and lighting standards may be installed at some locations if deemed necessary. Upgrades of curb ramps to ADA standards may be necessary at locations where disturbance to the existing sidewalks and pedestrian facilities cannot be avoided. Design will provide a list of locations requiring curb ramp upgrades if these will be included in the project.
