Document Description
The proposed Aerojet Waste Consolidation Unit (AWCU) will be constructed, filled, and closed consistent with Title 27 requirements for a Class II landfill. The AWCU will be a 50-acre solid waste disposal site located on top of the pre-regulated White Rock North Dump (WRND). The facility will not be open to the public. The proposed project will allow for disposal of up to 1 million cubic yards of transfer material that is excavated from 8,500 acres of Aerojet owned land, including material from the existing Aerojet Landfill, and a limited amount of material excavated from the WRND. Transfer material will be hauled by trucks primarily using paved private roads within Aerojet owned property. All transfer material will be tested to be confirmed nonhazardous waste prior to disposal in the AWCU cell. The project will consist of two phases; the first being the construction of the AWCU cells, deposition of the transfer material into the cells, and closure of the AWCU cells and the second being cap and closure of the remainder of the WRND and any areas of the AWCU that are not filled with Transfer Material.
