Document Description
The project includes granting f~deral financial assistance, through the California ·Office of Emergency Services, under the Public Assistance Program by FEMA to the North West Kern Resource Conservation District (Subrecipient) to repair failed levee sites at 16 locations, and smaller blowouts at 35 locations throughout the 2-mile length of the Paso Creek, and the excavation of two borrow proximate to Poso Creek in Kern County. The levees on either side of Paso Creek were damaged as a result of the Presidentiallydeclared disaster severe winter storms, flooding, and mudslides disaster of 2017. The levees are located within the boundaries of Semitropic Water Storage District. Repair of the levees is necessary to prevent future damage during emergency winter storm and flood conditions including to prime farmland . Project beneficiaries include adjacent landowners within the Semitropic Water Storage District.
