Document Description
The City of Bell Gardens is applying for a grant to renovate the existing aquatics center at John Anson Ford Park and create a regional aquatics center to be known as the "Ford Park Regional Aquatics Center". The proposed aquatics center will replace an existing empty and inoperable pool with a new fifty- (50) meter pool and an additional therapeutic pool. The new pool will be approximately 13,448 square feet in area with nine (9) lanes. a warm-up area, and a slide. A handicap accessible lift is proposed on the north side of the pool along with a life guard chair. The facility will have a series of bleachers with storage compartments underneath. The therapy pool will be approximately 2,466 square feet in area. The existing deteriorating restrooms, changing areas. and office area will also be replaced with new facilities.

The project meets the criteria for this exemption in that (a) the project is consistent with the applicable general plan designation and all applicable general plan policies as well as with applicable zoning designation and regulations; (bl the proposed development occurs within city limits on a project site of no more than five (5) acres substantially surrounded by urban uses; (cl the project site has no value as habitat for endangered. rare or threatened species; (d) approval of the . project would not result in any significant effects relating to traffic. noise. air quality. or water quality; and (e) the site can be adequately served by all required utilities and public services.
