The removal of brush, low hanging limbs and dead trees within the Sanchez Lagoon Area to lower the fuel loads to reduce the impacts of wildfires constitutes maintenance of existing facilities. The maintenance will be completed by hand utilizing weed trimmers, chain saws and other hand equipment. Therefore, the project fulfills the requirements for a Class 1 Categorical Exemption.
