Document Description
The purpose of the project is to interconnect the water agency's distribution system piping to improve efficiency of water delivery. The project involves temporary construction within the public right of way consistent with City of Santa Clarita traffic control requirements. Construction will take place over 14 days and include limited excavation and a pipeline connection between Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency's Santa Clarita Water Division and Valencia Division water lines. The newly installed pipeline will be 10 inches in diameter and approximately 50 feet long.

This proposed action qualifies for an exemption under Class 1 Existing Facilities because it is a minor alteration of an existing public facility and it concerns proposed new mechanical equipment involving negligible or no expansion of use, i.e. no additional delivery of water, beyond that existing at the time of the lead agency's determination. None of the exceptions listed in Section 15300.2 of the CEQA Guidelines would apply to the proposed action.
