Document Description
The Sunnyvale School District proposes to improve the existing District Maintenance, Operations, and Transportation (MOT) Yard at the Sunnyvale School District Office site. The project would demolish three maintenance buildings (two portables and one warehouse structure) located at the northwest corner of the MOT Yard, including the concrete pads and surrounding concrete paving, and replace the buildings with a new 24-foot tall maintenance building. The project would also remove and replace asphalt pavement throughout the MOT Yard. All site improvements would be contained within the boundaries of the Sunnyvale School District Office site.

Reasons for Exemption
The proposed project would replace three existing maintenance buildings on the Sunnyvale School District Office site with one new maintenance building. The new maintenance building would have similar capacity to the existing buildings. The project would also make minor improvements to the parking areas adjacent to the maintenance building. The proposed improvements would not change the use of the site or alter circulation patterns in the surrounding areas. The project would not introduce a new use to the Sunnyvale School District Office site. For these reasons, the project is exempt from the provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
