Document Description
The City of Shafter is proposing to upgrade and renovate the existing Shafter Aquatic Center, located at 269 Paso Avenue, with Proposition 68 Grant funds. A new building will feature indoor recreation areas, lockers, showers, toilets, updated ADA enhancements with all inclusive access to the Aquatic Center, programming and viewing rooms. The project will also improve and enhance outdoor facilities with pool resurfacing, pool deck resurfacing, a new splash pad, climbing wall, new seating and shade structures. Additional upgrades and enhancements will be provided to the pool pump and equipment buildings and ADA parking and access. The existing Aquatic Center contains two pools, recreation building with showers, restrooms, changing areas, administrative area, viewing room, shade areas and seating, and parking area.

The Shafter Aquatic Center renovation project is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to Section 15302 of the CEQA Guidelines because the proposal is only replacing , reconstructing, and upgrading existing structures, facilities, and uses at the Aquatic Center. No expansion or change of use is proposed for the Aquatic Center.
