Document Description
The Buchanan Park Renovation project would add the following new amenities to the existing Buchanan Park: Basketball Court, Splash Pad and Public Art, and would replace the existing Community Center with a larger LEED certified center, replace deteriorated pedestrian walkways with pervious pathways and expand and resurface parking areas. The community center is proposed to be an expansion to 9,000 sf from the current 3,000 sf facility. The project would replace 35,000 sf impervious sidewalk walkways with decomposed granite, a pervious material. Storm water runoff would filter through the layer into the ground, prior to flowing to the nearby Kirker Creek. The design of the replacement parking area would include green infrastructure improvements such as bioswales and landscaped areas to capture storm water for infiltration
