Document Description
The proposed project would involve the removal and replacement of an existing floating wood dock, concrete piles, and gangway by Swift Slip Docks in the City of Coronado, California. Work to be specifically complete the proposed project would involve the replacement of an existing floating wood dock structure, demolition and replacement of four (4) 12-square-inch (sq in) pre-stressed square concrete piles, and replacement of an existing 3.5-foot (ft)- wide by 20-ft-long gangway. The proposed dock and gangway replacement would result in the same area coverage of 1,232 square feet (sq ft) (see Table 1, below). The four proposed concrete piles would have the same dimensions as the four existing piles being demolished and would match nine (9) other existing piles, and would result in replacement of 4 sq ft of fill at the mudline and 84 cubic feet (cf) of water column fill (see Table 2, below). Construction of the proposed project is anticipated to occur in the fall and would take approximately three (3) months to complete.

Reasons for Exemption
The proposed project is determined to be Categorically Exempt pursuant to California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines Section 15301 (Existing Facilities) and Section 15302 (Replacement or Reconstruction), and Section 3.a. and 3.b. of the District's Guidelines for Compliance with CEQA because it is the replacement of an existing dock, piles, and gangway and would involve no expansion of use beyond that previously existing, would not result in a significant cumulative impact due to the continuation of the existing use, would consist of the replacement of existing facilities, would be located on the same site as the structures being replaced, and would have substantially the same purpose and capacity. Section 3.a. and 3.b. of the District's CEQA Guidelines. See attached NOE for more description.
