Document Description
EBMUD is proposing to construct a 5-megawatt (MW) photovoltaic (PV) solar system on its watershed land at 518 Bear Creek Road, Orinda, in order to qualify for the Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) Renewable Energy Self-Generation Bill Credit Transfer (RESBCT) tariff. The RES-BCT tariff allows local governments to generate up to 5 MW of electricity from a renewable energy source at one electric account and transfer bill credits to up to 50 benefiting accounts of the same local government entity. The PV solar project would assist EBMUD in meeting its goals for increasing the cost-effective use of renewable energy and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. EBMUD has an Energy Policy goal to be carbon free for indirect emissions by 2040. The RESBCT tariff is a cost-effective opportunity to increase EBMUD use of PV solar and assist EBMUD in meeting its Energy Policy goal.
