Document Description
The proposed project is intended to address operational and safety deficiencies at the "Five Corner" intersection in the City of Avalon, located on Catalina Island, California. The project area comprises a segment of Tremont Street generally between Summer Avenue to the northwest and Clemente Avenue to the southeast and the cluster of intersections including Sumner Avenue, Country Club Drive and Avalon Canyon Road. The project scope includes the construction of two "dual miniroundabout" intersections, construction of new sidewalk segments to close existing gaps and construction of six pedestrian crossings. Improvements would also extend southwest along Avalon Canyon Road generally to the south end of the City Hall and Fire Station complex and southeast along Tremont Street to just west of the Catalina Avenue intersection.
