- Document Description
- Reference to SCH# 2017058385 The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2018-0332-R1, pursuant to Section 1602 ·of the Fish and Game Code. This project is limited to 10 encroachments. Nine encroachments are to install drainage lens/drain dip structures along multiple locations along the trail . route where the inboard ditch of the existing road has failed near ephemeral streams and is causing water to spill out and flow down sections of the trail. The installation of the drainage lens/drain dip structures is to minimize tail erosion and associated soil transport from the trail in Fern Canyon Creek. The installation of the drain dips will direct water perpendicular across the trail and into Fern Canyon Creek. Drainage crossings will either be armored with compacted road base or quarried rock rip-rap. Work for these projects will include removal of asphalt road base, installation of non-woven filter fabric, installation of rock walls with point to point contact, placement of crushed rock between the rock walls, installation of second non-woven fabric filter, placement of 4~6" compacted soil/gravel in 2-3" lifts, and installation of energy dissipaters as required. One encroachment is for the installation of a puncheon bridge on the trail to allow natural drainage of a seasonal stream. Work for this encroachment will include removal of asphalt road-base, brush clearing from project perimeter, installation of rock causeway on approaches, trenching to install footing, recontouring of stream channel, installation of soil dam and mud sill, anchoring mud sill with rebar, placement of joist. decking, and rails of bridge, rock armoring as necessary to minimize erosion, and re-vegetation of disturbed areas
