Document Description
The City of Shafter is installing the necessary mechanical, electrical improvements, and new carbon treatment vessels to enable water from existing Municipal Well No. 16 to be treated for the removal of 1,2,3-trichloropropane ("TCP"). The addition of the vessels would expand the City's efforts to comply with a State mandate to remove 1,2,3-trichloropropane ("TCP") from its active wells.

The project is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to Section 15303(d) of the CEQA Guidelines in that the City is only installing new water well carbon treatment equipment on an existing City of Shafter municipal water well site to remove 1,2,3-trichloropropane ("TCP"). The purpose of the action is to ensure public safety.
