Document Description
The proposed project would Involve the landside Installation of an anode well by BAE Systems (Tenant) In the city of San Diego, California. Work to specifically complete the proposed project would involve saw cutting a rough I y 3-foot(ft)-wide by 3-ft-long square at the well location to accommodate the Installation of cathodic protection equipment, In addition to a roughly 1-ft wide by 10-ft-long strip to accommodate the installation of anode conduit and cables to an existing vault. Installation of the anode well would Involve drilling with water and air, and approximately 6 cubic yards of drill spoils would be collected In a roll off bin and sampled on site. Upon sampling, the material would be removed and taken to an approved disposal location. After completion of the anode well and cable installation, both sawcut areas would be backfilled and repaved to match the surrounding asphalt grade. Two existing anode wells are proposed to be abandoned with associated well vent pipes. The abandoned wells would be covered with new concrete or grout floor. The proposed project would replace aging infrastructure to improve functionality, with ongoing inspections, maintenance, repairs, and replacement as-needed. Construction of the proposed project is anticipated to take approximately two days to complete.

(1), (3), and (6), 3.b. (2), 3.d. (7), and/or 3.f. of the District's Guidelines for Compliance with CEQA because it would involve no expansion of use beyond that previously existing, would not result in a significant cumulative impact due to the continuation of the existing use, would consist of the replacement/reconstruction of an existing structure/facility, would be located on the same site as the structure replaced, would have substantially the same purpose and capacity, and would result In no permanent effects on the environment, would not Involve the removal of mature, scenic trees, and is for the purpose of basic data collection/research/experimental management/resource evaluation activities which would not result in a serious major disturbance to an environmental resource.
