Document Description
The project includes the remediation of soils with elevated concentrations of metals and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Impacted soils will be excavated, segregated, and properly disposed of off-Site at an appropriately licensed facility, and the excavated areas backfilled with imported clean soil. Because some residual VOCs may still be present in soil vapor after mitigation removal of source area VOCs in soil, a vapor intrusion mitigation system (VIMS), that will be designed to reduce vapor intrusion risk to a level acceptable for residential land use will be installed. VIMS have proven highly effective as a long-term solution to reduce vapor intrusion risk. The presence of a VIMS will require a Land Use Covenant for maintenance and protection of the VIMS.
