Document Description
The PMPU serves as a long-range plan to establish policies and guidelines for future development within the coastal zone boundary of the port. The PMPU is needed to incorporate previous PMP amendments and update the existing 1990 PMP to reflect changes in the global shipping industry, technological advances, and important factors such as climate change and energy resources consistent with Green Port Policy objectives. The PMPU is also necessary to re-evaluate land uses to ensure permitting flexibility for future development in the port. A PEIR will be prepared to evaluate the following plan elements: changes to the boundary of the PMP planning districts; revisions to allowed land uses within the planning districts; and potential projects that may be initiated or completed within the next 10-20 years.
