Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2019-0244-R3, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the California Department of Transportation as represented by Allen Lao. The Project is limited to the replacement of a previously existing 36-inch diameter, 94-foot-long, corrugated metal pipe (CMP) culvert with a 48-inch diameter, 91-foot-long, reinforced concrete pipe (RCP). Approximately 200, 4-foot-wide by 20-foot-long, interlocking steel sheet piles will be installed from the top of roadway using a vibratory hammer attached to a backhoe. The piles will be driven 8 to 10 feet deep to create a 1,000 square foot coffer dam on both sides of the roadway around each end of the culvert. The existing 36-inch diameter by 94-foot-long CMP will be excavated and removed and disposed of off-site. The roadway excavation will be lined with a thin layer of¾ inch clean gravel to total 5 cubic yards to create a bed for the new culvert. A new 48 inch by 91-foot-long pre-cast RCP will be placed on the gravel bed by connecting 18, 5-foot-long segments. The pipe will then be backfilled with 80 cubic yards of concrete slurry and 1,440 cubic yards of roadway excavated material.
