Document Description
The Chemistry Annex Seismic Work 2 Project completes the seismic corrective work needed in the Chemistry Annex, and improve the seismic performance to Level III ("Good") from its current rating of Level VI. The Chemistry Annex is centrally located on the core UC Davis campus. The building is a five story plus basement. The building contains student and faculty research and teaching laboratory space, laboratory support space, and academic and administrative office and support space. The project proposes to reinforce 43 columns with fiber reinforced polymer in the Basement and Floors 1, 2, and 3. The project would construct eight vertical foundation ties in the basement and additionally a shear wall in the basement and new footings beneath the floor slab. The project includes accessibility improvements in five restrooms as well as the replacement of fume hoods and emergency showers disturbed by seismic work.
