Document Description
The City of Long Beach (City) is the lead agency under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is the lead agency under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) as assigned by FHWA, in accordance with NEPA (42 United States Code [USC] 4321 et seq.); and the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) Regulations implementing NEPA (40 Code of Federal Regulations [CFR] 1500–1508). The City, in cooperation with Caltrans, is proposing to replace the Shoemaker Bridge (West Shoreline Drive) in the City of Long Beach, California. A regional location map is included on Figure S-1. The Shoemaker Bridge Replacement Project (Project) is an early action project (EAP) of the Interstate 710 (I-710) Corridor Project and is located at the southern end of State Route 710/Interstate 710 (SR-710/I-710) in the City and is bisected by the Los Angeles River (LA River).
