Document Description
The proposed project would implement small-scale flood control maintenance activities primarily in rural areas outside of urban centers on private property in the Petaluma and upper Sonoma Creek watersheds. Most maintenance would be preventative actions to reduce flood risk and avoid bank erosion. Vegetation management activities consist of trimming, mowing, and removal of flow-constructing vegetation within a creek. Bank stabilization would be conducted in a preventative manner by grading and planting exposed banks with native species that would enhance riparian and aquatic habitats. Maintenance would be conducted primarily using hand tools. Trucks and other heavy equipment may be used from top of bank.
