Document Description
The proposed Upper Newport Bay-East Bluff Drainage Repair Project consists of drainage improvements and erosion repair within a bluff on the eastern side of Upper Newport Bay. Extensive erosion of East Bluff along Back Bay Drive occurred due to the failure of existing drainage facilities (i.e., a 36-inch Corrugated Steel Pipe (CSP) and a 30-inch CSP), which as exposed and suspended the existing 30-inch CSP at the face of the bluff. The proposed project would eliminate an existing safety hazard and reduce future erosion of the bluff in the vicinity of the project site by removing and reconstructing existing bluff drainage facilities, repairing (i.e., filling) the eroded areas, and providing additional permanent erosion protection.
