Present Land Use
Developed and Undeveloped land in Kern County. Current Zoning Classifications and General Plan Map Code Designations to remain the same.
The originally approved project consists of an amendment to Title 19 Kern County Zoning Ordinance (July 2012), with focus on Chapter 19.98 (Oil and Gas Production), to include new site development standards for all oil and gas exploration, extraction, operations, and production activities in unincorporated Kern County. The Division of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Resources, as the CEQA responsible agency, will be issuing a permit for the proposed project activity, which consists of the following: CRC proposes to hydraulically fracture well Coles Levee A 38-30 (API #02961834) in one stage which is expected to take approx. 10 days (including placement of Baker-type portable tanks and all ancillary equipment to support the closed loop system, as well as the WST). This inactive well is a densely developed oilfield (Coles Levee) and was directionally drilled in 1980. As such, there will be new production lines going to existing facilities associated with this project. Fluids from the WST will be collected in a closed system and will not be discharged to the ground or sumps. The class II fluids will be injected into the permitted wells. The estimated water volume to be used is approx. 4,000 bbls and the source water will be purchased from West Kern Water District.
