Document Description
The originally approved project consists of an amendment to Title 19 Kern County Zoning Ordinance (July 2012), with focus on Ch. 19.98 (Oil and Gas Production), to include new site development standards for all oil and gas exploration, extraction, operations, and production activities in unincorporated Kern County. CDFW, as the Responsible Agency, will be issuing a permit for the proposed project activity, which consists of the following: CA Resources Corporation, LLC (CRC) will be engaging in activities to support the continued oil and gas related activities and the exploration and development of new wells and infrastructure necessary to enhance recovery and processing of oil and gas reserves over a period of 50 years. The activities described and covered under the ITP will supersede an existing CESA MOU (2081-1997-0000-04) and will occur in the EHOF, and in the ROW areas just outside of the 2-mile buffer where the ROWs originate within the 2-mile buffer. Project will result in permanent impacts to 7,000 acres of habitat. The project is expected to result in incidental take of San Joaquin kit fox *Vulpes macrotis mutica), San Joaquin antelope squirrel (Ammospermophilus nelson), which are designated as a threatened species under CESA; and giant kangaroo rat (Dipodomys ingens) and Tipton kangaroo rat (Dipodomys nitratoides), which are designated as endangered under CESA. The ITP referenced above as issued by CDFW authorizes incidental take of species listed under CESA that may occur as a result of project implementation.
