Edinger Avenue Bridge Over Bolsa Chica Channel Replacement Project

The project site is located at the western terminus of Edinger Ave in the City of Huntington Beach. The existing bridge spans the Bolsa Chica Channel prior to its connection to Sunset Way East in the City of Seal Beach. The County, in cooperation with Caltrans and the Federal Highways Administration (FHWA) proposes to replace the existing structurally deficient and seismically vulnerable timber bridge with a new bridge in the same location. The bridge provides the sole public access link into Sunset Harbour, which is a County of Orange regional recreational facility. The existing bridge 15-span heavy timber structure with two 12-foot-wide lanes (1 lane in each direction) and two 8-foot-wide shoulders.
