Document Description
City of Soledad is proposing a Specific Plan for the Downtown Soledad area. The Specific Plan, if adopted would guide land use, redevelopment priorities, design, and infrastructure, among other planning considerations, in the planning area specified. The project is subject to the discretionary approval of the city council and is therefore a project under CEQA.
The purpose of this project is to provide a comprehensive vision for the redevelopment and revitalization for the Downtown Soledad area consistent with the historical and importance of the area. The City, in its General plan, recognizes Downtown Soledad as a cultural resource, in that many buildings of local historic interest are located in the downtown area, and because the downtown fronts the rail line, historically a focus of the city. The intent of the plan is to provide for development to redevelop and/or revitalize the planning area (Downtown Soledad) "…through specific recommendations for strategic infill projects and improvements that capitalize on the significant assets in the area."
