Document Description
Project is proposing the construction of a new light rail transit bridge over the existing San Antonio concrete channel. The bridge will be comprised of precast concrete girders set at each end on top of a cap beam supported by cast-in-drilled-hole (CIDH) piles. The bottom of the precast concrete girders will be set a minimum of three feet above the existing channel walls. The cap beam and CIDH piles are designed so that no additional structural stress to the existing channel will occur as a result of construction and the new bridge. Existing fencing on top of the channel walls will be removed and new fencing will be connected to the existing fencing, will temporarily impact a total of 0.02 acres (100 feet in width by 100 feet in length) of Fish and Game Code Section 1602 resources during construction and 0.03 acres of permanent impacts (50 feet in width by 25 feet in length) due to shading effects from the new bridge installation.
