Present Land Use
The General Plan, adopted July 25, 2006, Land Use Elements, designates the areas within the project site as Single-Unit Residential Detached (RS-D) and Open Space (OS), and, at the outfall to the Pacific Ocean, Parks and Recreation (PR). Pursuant to the City of Newport Beach Zoning Code, the proposed project is within areas designated Single-Family Residential (R-1) and Residential Combining District (R-1-B).
Document Description
Note: Review per lead The project proposes installing stepped-gabion (wire-mesh baskets filled with river rock) grade control structure with subsurface flow wetlands in the lower reach of Buck Creek and bend-way weirs along the upper bend of the creek. The gabion and weir structures would limit stream bed erosion during flood events, particularly along the base of the canyon slopes to reduce the potential of slope erosion or failure which in turn could lead to damage of existing residential structures located at the top of these slopes. The construction, disturbed areas would be re-vegetated with a native plant palette.
