The proposed project is to develop and reclaim and aggregate mine and related processing plant, concrete and asphalt plants, a and recycling plant on 886 acres of a 1,500-acre site comprised of 14 parcels to be operated by Carmelita Resources. The project proposes a maximum aggregate production rate of 1.25 million tons/year and an operating life of up to 100 years. The balance of the site (614 acres) not use for mine operations would continue to support tree fruit production. Most of the 888-acre portion of the project site would remain in agricultural production until such time as the trees are removed and overburden (soil) removal commences within individual mine-reclamation cells.
