Document Description
Cal Poly proposes to remove the structurally unsafe wooden Pennington Creek Bridge, and restore the creek channel areas currently occupied by the wooden bridge support structures. The bridge was damaged by heavy equipment travek during the Highway 41 fire, and is no longer used. A new clear span steel bridge across Pennington Creek has been constructed, and will provide access for removal efforts and to Cal Poly facilities located to the east. Wooden bridge removal will be accomplished from existing roadways and the new bridge, with minimal access to or disturbance of the creek channel. No grading is proposed, and no tracked or wheeled equipment will be used within the channel. Any streamflow present within the creek channel will be diverted into an enclosed pipe to allow fish passage.
