Document Description
The project will enhance the capacity of the existing County of Santa Cruz Streamwood Program to respond to reports of large woody debris and/or log jams in salmonid-bearing streams and their tributaries, with the primary goal of leaving wood in the channel where feasible for the habitat benefits it provides. The project will greatly increase the capacity of the Streamwood Program by funding for additional consulting geomorphologist time, tree crews who are able to modify wood to allow it to stay in streams, spatial analysis of "challenge areas" where wood is regularly recruited and removed due to flood risks, feasibility analysis of projects that could benfit these challenge areas, and improved monitoring and data management protocols.
