Document Description
The Union Sanitary District's (USD's) Alvarado Wastewater Treatment Plant provides wastewater treatment for the residents and businesses of southern Alameda County, California. The plant's treatment train has two sets of primary clarifier nos. 1 to 4 in one building, and primary clarifer nos. 5 and 6 in a second building. Primary clarifier nos 1 to 4 were constructed in 1978 and include the original mechanisms and appurtenances, which have served well over the past 30 years. However, the structure and mechanisms inside the claifier building have worn and corroded over time, and USD is now concerned about the condition of the clarifiers, which must remain in service to meet treatment needs.
