The proposed project involves construction of a 220/115-Kkilovolt (kV) Ivanpah Substation, the replacement of approximately 35 miles of existing 115-kV line with a double-circuit 220-kV, transmission line between the existing Eldorado Substation and the Ivanpah Dry Lake area, and installation of a telecommunication system along two separate and redundant pathways. The Project will result in impacts to 51.73 acres of desert tortoise (Gopherus agassizii) habitat including temporary impacts to 45.5 acres and permanent removal of 6.23 acres. The Project is expected to result in incidental take of desert tortoise, which is designated as a threatened species under the California Endangered Species Act (CESA).
