Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Game is executing a Lake or Streambed Alteration Agreement Number 1600-2009-0082-R2, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project applicant, DWR. DWR proposes to remove approximately 38,600 cubic yards of accumulated sediment from the Sacramento Weir approach to restore its flow capacity. The average depth of sediment to be removed is 4' with depths ranging from 2-5' along the length of the weir. After the sediment is removed, the invert elevation directly in front of the weir will match the weir apron elevation of 21.27'. From the weir apron, the cut will have a negative slope of approximately 1.25% towards the river bank. The area of cut has an average width of 160' from the weir apron to the hinge point of the river bank and a length of approximately 2100' (approximately 7.75 acres). The total area of disturbed ground, including in-channel and overbank haul paths and disposal area will be about 19.2 acres. The excavated sediment will be placed along the landslide of the south levee of the Sacramento Bypass. The sediment will be used to build up the existing stability berm on the levee toe. The sediment will raise the existing stability berm approximately 6.3' for a 1-mile stretch.
