State Parks is developing a General Plan Revision for Red Rock Canyon State Park in accordance with Public Resources Code §5002.2 referencing General Plan guidelines and §21000 et seq. concerning the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The purpose of the General Plan Revision is to provide a comprehensive framework for future Park development and use and to provide management objectives for the Park. The Revised General Plan will also provide a clear framework of consistent management goals and guidelines for the entire Park, identify formal boundaries, and make recommendations for classifying all of the Park’s acreage. Preparation of the General Plan Revision will rely on existing information, including several recent studies at the park and in the surrounding areas.
