Document Description
East Bay Municipal Utility District’s (EBMUD’s) existing Montclair Pumping Plant (PP) was planned to be rehabilitated as detailed in the certified Estates Reservoir Replacement Project (Project) Environmental Impact Report (EIR). During initial detailed design, changes were proposed based on subsequent review of facility conditions and equipment space requirements. The revised Project includes replacement of the existing PP and construction of a new PP approximately 200 feet northeast of the existing PP within the existing Estates Reservoir site, associated new pipelines connecting the new PP to existing pipelines on the site, a prefabricated bathroom, and demolition of the existing PP.
In accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act, EBMUD completed an Addendum to the Estates Reservoir Replacement Project EIR to address environmental impacts from the design changes. An evaluation was conducted and it was determined that the changes do not result in new significant impacts or cause an increase in the severity of previously identified impacts as presented in the certified Estates Reservoir Replacement Project EIR. EBMUD will implement the same mitigation measures for the design changes that are presented in the certified Estates Reservoir Replacement Project EIR. No further environmental documentation is required.
